Myanmar in Mourning: A Nation Shaken by Earthquake and Oppression

On March 28, 2025, Myanmar was struck by a devastating 7.7-magnitude earthquake, the most powerful in over a century. The epicenter near Mandalay unleashed destruction across six regions, including the capital Naypyidaw. As of early April, the death toll has surpassed 5,400, with over 11,000 injured and hundreds still missing.

This catastrophe compounds the suffering of a nation already burdened by a brutal military regime. Since the 2021 coup, the junta has waged war against its own people, committing atrocities and plunging the country into economic despair.

Now, amidst the rubble, the same regime pleads for international aid, yet continues to suppress and exploit its citizens.

The international community must recognize the plight of Myanmar's people. Aid must reach those in need, bypassing the corrupt hands of the junta. The world cannot remain indifferent as Myanmar endures both natural and man-made disasters.

To the resilient people of Myanmar: our hearts are with you.

May the world finally see your suffering and stand with you in your pursuit of peace and freedom.
