Myanmar’s Deepening Crisis: The Silent Struggle of a Nation in June 2025

As June 2025 comes to a close, the people of Myanmar continue to suffer in silence while the world’s attention drifts elsewhere. The ongoing humanitarian and human rights crisis grows deeper each day. The military junta continues to tighten its grip, leaving ordinary citizens trapped between war, violence, poverty, and fear.
The latest reports from the United Nations highlight a devastating reality. Over 18.6 million people now require urgent humanitarian aid, yet only a fraction of the funding has been received. Children are malnourished, families are displaced, and entire communities remain cut off from help. At the same time, the junta continues its campaign of violence against civilians, blocking aid deliveries and persecuting anyone who dares to resist.
UN Special Rapporteur Tom Andrews has once again urged the international community not to turn a blind eye. He described Myanmar as a “human rights catastrophe” that is worsening with each passing month. His warning is clear: without immediate global intervention, millions will continue to suffer, and the crisis will only spiral further out of control.
The tragedy is not only humanitarian but also moral. A government that murders, terrorizes, and starves its own citizens should not even be called a government. The junta thrives on fear and violence, crushing every voice of freedom. And yet, amidst this cruelty, it is the people of Myanmar who show the most courage—those who stand, resist, and survive despite unbearable conditions.
As I reflect on these reports, I can only express my deepest sadness and sympathy for the innocent lives caught in this nightmare. Families torn apart. Children growing up surrounded by fear. Communities destroyed by both war and natural disasters. It is heartbreaking that even after the devastating March earthquake, which killed thousands and left many more without homes, the junta has failed to provide any relief, showing again that they rule only to exploit and harm.
Myanmar deserves peace. Its people deserve dignity, safety, and freedom. The world cannot afford to look away any longer. Governments, international organizations, and ordinary citizens must raise their voices and act. Whether through donations, advocacy, or spreading awareness, we must not abandon the people of Myanmar.
My prayers and thoughts remain with the civilians who endure this suffering every day. The strength of the people is remarkable, but they should not have to endure this alone. May the world finally listen, and may Myanmar one day find justice and peace.
